I always ask this, but HOW? HOW is it already MAY? We’re already into the fifth month of the year! I swear, time has become like a nebulous concept to me. It’s like it moves and it stands still at the same time, kind of like how we feel in life sometimes… Existential crisis aside! We’ve got some favorites to discuss! April was a great month for me in terms of experimentation and finding some favorites!
My gorgeous best friend, Lindsey, recommended that I buy these, and I immediately went to Ulta and purchased the whole set (including the leave-in conditioner) on sale. You guys, I don’t think I’m ever going to buy another shampoo or conditioner. Ever. This stuff makes my hair feel like heaven and it smells amazing. I thought it would be crazy expensive since it’s Marc Anthony but it’s actually really affordable, considering it’s at Ulta. I realize it may be a little more than you want to spend on shampoo and conditioner, but think about it this way: you’re investing in hair care, and it’s a great return on investment. I’m sold!
I found this in what I call “the danger zone” at Sephora. I guess someone had picked it up and decided they didn’t want it anymore. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, eh? I’ve been looking for some good burgundy and plum palettes, and this is a good starting palette! The colors are pigmented and blend very well! I love this palette and will definitely buy another one in the future!
These sheet masks have been a real life-saver for me this month! I really really hate those rub-on masks that you have to wash off because the crap always gets in my hair and I always soak my T-shirt trying to wash it off. But I still needed help. I was really stressed out with my last job, so much so that I was hitting the snooze button until I only had time to slap on some moisturizer. These are such great tools, and my face feels amazing afterwards. There are so many different variations that you can get, and they’re only about $2 at Walmart. I love these so much!
Ulta Silicone Blender
Let me preface this a little bit. When my friend, Lindsey (the same one who recommended the shampoo set), told me about a silicone beauty blender, I was just… confused. I’d seen these things all over Instagram, but I never wanted one. You’re basically rubbing a… boob implant on your face? No thanks. But when I saw her flawless foundation time and time again, I finally took the plunge. You guys, this thing is a game changer. You pat (don’t rub) your foundation into your face, and it doesn’t absorb any product so you use about half the product as you would with a sponge applicator! I love this thing so much. I use it for my foundation but I still use my sponge for buffing concealer. I highly recommend giving this a try!
I have Taralynn McNitt to thank for introducing me to these bars after seeing them all over her blog (again, if you haven’t checked out her stuff, you’re missing out)! These RX bars are on sale in the kitchen at work, so I tried the Maple Salt flavor and didn’t love it. I found this flavor at Target and I’m in LOVE! Granted, this is only the second flavor I’ve tried but this has to be the best! When you look at the ingredients, you see absolutely nothing except what is on the wrapper, and as someone who is trying to be more mindful of the food I eat, I greatly appreciate this. The texture is something of an acquired taste for sure, but the flavor helps!
Turkey and Cheese Wraps
Right now I am LOVING my go-to snack/small meal, inspired by Dr. Mike (look him up on Youtube, thank me later). It’s just a piece of good quality oven roasted turkey (none of the Oscar Meyer processed stuff), a little spread of Dijon mustard, a slice of muenster cheese, and a few cucumber slices. Not only is it packed with protein with the turkey and cheese, but the cucumbers pack in their own health benefits… and a good crunch! Two of these wraps and I’m good to go!
Peanut Butter Banana English Muffin
I’ve been trying to cut back on my bread consumption, but I can’t let it go completely, which is where English muffins come into play! I loved peanut butter toast with banana slices on top as a kid, and recently I’ve started topping it with cinnamon to add some more health benefits. One of these sandwiches and a cup of my keto coffee, and I’m full all the way up until lunch at work!
So there are my April favorites! Let me know in the comments if you had any favorites of your own this month and give me some recommendations for May! As always, stay beautiful[ly woke], my friends.
