Investments I Have Made That Are TOTALLY Worth The Money
Hey guys! So a while back I did a poll on what kind of MONEY posts people would want to see, and “things worth the money” won out, so I figured I would look back at big investments I’ve made in the past that are absolutely worth every penny. Let’s be honest, we all don’t have huge amounts of disposable income to spend on big investments, but these have all worked out for me and I thought I’d recommend my favorites!
Note: this post contains affiliate links, which means if you use any of them to make a purchase, I get compensated at no extra cost to you. I use affiliate links in order to bring in an income to keep providing quality content, and I would never link or promote something I don’t fully love or trust. Thanks for helping me achieve my dreams!
I will be completely honest here… starting my blog was NOT cheap. Sure, I could have kept my free WordPress.com blog and stuck with that. However, self-hosting on my own website feels so much better and more professional. If you are starting your blog, I would wholeheartedly recommend self-hosting with Siteground. I’m not affiliated with them, I have just enjoyed their service from the very beginning. With that, I would say investing in a theme has been very worth it. Starting a professional blog had a fairly expensive start-up, but it has been worth every penny.
I had a Student Prime account for about a year in college and it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. You get free and guaranteed two-day shipping, along with streaming music and TV shows/movies. If you’re a parent who dreads having to put the kids in the car, you can have your groceries delivered. Do you have an Alexa? She can tell you what is on sale if you ask “Alexa, what are your deals?” There’s so much that goes into a Prime membership beyond free two-day shipping. It pays for itself in about two orders, so when you’re thinking about the steep price for a year’s worth, remember all the benefits you get to reap! You can sign up for a free 30-day trial to see how you like it below!
A gym membership has been so worth it for me lately. It gives me something fun and stress-relieving to do after a long day at work or in the morning on a weekend in order to remain productive! I used to have a membership with LA Fitness, but I have since cancelled and joined a local gym near my house and it’s so much better. For $20 a month, I get access to free classes like cycling, yoga, Zumba, boot camps, etc, on top of the normal machines and free weights. If you’re the kind of person who travels a lot, I’d suggest a chain gym. If you’re like me and don’t want to be locked into a contract, go with a local gym.
Signing up for Audible was one of the best decisions I made in college. After watching all of the Youtubers recommend their favorite books, I finally caved and got myself a membership and an audiobook that I still have to this day! An Audible membership, like a Prime account, pays for itself. $15 a month gives you access to lots of great audiobooks that you can download onto any device, one free audiobook every month, 30% off every purchase, etc. If you don’t love a book, you can exchange it for another one. Wanna know the best part? If you sign up for a free 30-day trial right now, you get to choose one audiobook. If you happen to cancel (which is absolutely hassle-free), it’s yours to keep forever.
More Expensive Makeup
Let me stop right here and put a disclaimer: more expensive =/= better quality 100% of the time. But certain products like MAC Fix Plus ($27 a bottle) are absolutely worth it. Most of the time, more expensive makeup may have fewer or no harsh chemicals or toxins, or be locally manufactured, or cruelty-free. Obviously, drugstore brands are beginning to step their game up, but there are certain high-end products that are worth the money.
I know what you’re thinking: “WalMart’s shoe selection is just too cute and they’re so cheap!” You’re absolutely not wrong. However, I have had to quit buying cheap shoes because they’re not made to fit my feet. I have high arches and extremely narrow heels, and at first I wasn’t excited about having to spend more on shoes, but in the long run my feet feel so much better because the shoes actually fit and are made with quality material.
Let me know in the comments what investments you guys have made over the years that you think are totally worth it!
