September 2018 Ipsy Glam Bag Unboxing
I got my second Ipsy bag yesterday and this time instead of going live on Instagram and almost nobody watching it, I decided to dedicate a whole unboxing post to the blog!
I know I’ve only had Ipsy for two months now, but I’m so happy I decided to pull the trigger! It’s $10 a month for five cosmetics samples, customized to your preference based on the survey you take when you sign up. And you get the products in such a cute bag! It’s perfect for someone who’s wanting to dive into beauty but doesn’t have the budget to splurge on so many full sized items. You can find what you love and don’t love and then save up to go buy the full sized product!
So here’s the list of what I got this month!
Benefit Hoola Bronzer in “Natural Bronze” (retail $30)
I started this one because I actually already have a Hoola bronzer that I bought myself last year, so I knew exactly what to expect. I do have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed about this, but then I realized that I love this bronzer and I’ll have a backup whenever I run out!
Iby Eyeshadow in “Fire and Ice” (retail $9)
I have already worn this eyeshadow out to a concert and I can say with 100% certainty that I absolutely love it! It’s a gorgeous buttery-smooth bronze shade that actually looks slightly green when it catches the light. When applied with a brush, it looks more burgundy, but when applied with a finger, it has that green look. Perfect for a multi-dimensional smokey eye! I mean, just look at that pigmentation.
According to Ipsy, it’s actually “infused with rosehip seed oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids that keep your skin smooth and hydrated all day.” And the best part is the brand is cruelty-free so yay! I will definitely be buying a palette from them in the future!
Hayadi Weightless Smoothing Cream (retail $17.50)
I’m gonna be honest, I thought this was primer for a second. It’s actually a hair product that smooths and fights frizz. According to Ipsy, it’s gluten-free AND paraben-free so that’s actually a really good thing in my book! I haven’t used it yet, but I’ll give an update in a hair care post coming up!
Doucce Cheek Blush in “RSVP” (retail $28)
This is another product I’ve already worn and I can already say I love it! It is a nice dark pink-y nude blush that provides a nice color to my pale skin without making me look like a clown.
Edit: yes I’m just now realizing that I took the picture with the “d” upside down
Elizabeth Mott “Thank Me Later” Primer
Okay, I gotta say, this one was the biggest disappointment. I’m pretty sure I remember saying in my survey that I have incredibly dry skin. This is the second mattifying primer they’ve sent me, and I honestly think I’ll give this one away. Matte primers just look horrible on my skin and make my foundation look dry and cake-y. Not to say that this primer isn’t probably really good quality and I’m sure it is, but matte ANYTHING just does not work on my skin. 4/10, Ipsy.
So, overall, I was pretty pleased with this month’s bag! And especially the actual bag, I mean can we talk about how cute it is?
So, if you have been thinking about starting a subscription box but you’re not sure what to go with, I would definitely recommend Ipsy if you are starting out with a small budget. Fair warning, some bags will be total flops and some will be amazing. I’m just going off of what other friends told me before I signed up in July. One of the best parts is everytime you get a bag and review your products, whether it’s positive or negative, you earn points which you can later redeem for free full sized product! It doesn’t take long to redeem enough points, especially if you refer people with your link (you automatically get 250 points when they use your link and I’ve seen some product available for 350 points so there you go).
If you’ve ready my makeup starter kit post and you still have no idea how to start with makeup, give Ipsy a try!
Well guys, I hope you enjoyed this unboxing, and if you liked it, give this post some love and hit that share button, or say hi in the comments below! I appreciate all the support, and I hope everyone has a great week!
