My Productivity Playlist // Songs That Help Me Get Sh*t Done

October 10, 2018lifewithcattitude

We all reach those times where we have to get stuff done. You sit at the computer needing to write, you lay in bed needing to get up to do chores, whatever it may be! We all have that productivity block!

That’s literally my life. When you have ADD and also suffer from anxiety and depression, being productive is a daily battle. Coffee is not my productivity potion; it’s my I’m-out-of-bed-and-slightly-nicer potion. I wish I could “drink coffee and do all the things.” My brain literally doesn’t work like that!

I have a whole process I undergo in order to be productive. Whether I need to do the dishes that have been piling up in my sink, clean my room, or write a few blog posts, I usually need help outside of coffee and diffusing oils. My brain requires SOUND in order to function. I have a go-to playlist that I play whenever I need a boost, and I’ve decided to share it with you!

MitiS – “Identity”

I found this song on a Chillstep Study mix on Youtube in college when I was in the library for a marathon paper-writing session. I had hit a major roadblock with my research and the paper was due in two weeks. I desperately needed help. So when I went to visit my then-boyfriend for fall break, I still had a whole chunk left to research and write. I locked myself in his kitchen, put this song on continuous loop, and knocked out seven solid pages worth of content. I owe my A- that I received on that paper to this song. It’s a nice dubstep that doesn’t make your ears bleed, and it actually helps motivate! Give it a listen!

Corp – “Luxury’s Fortune”

With this song, someone literally took Fancy’s “Lady of Ice,” and slowed it down. Then they added other special effects and melodies. But it’s honestly one of the best songs I’ve heard in a while. I can find myself listening to it up to 20 times while driving and not even realize it. One time when I was taking a long drive and listening to this song, I had Siri make about eight notes for future blog posts, all of which I have since posted!

Chronicle – “Antlers”

Okay I’m going to be completely honest, I don’t have the greatest memories with this song. This is the time when I was dealing with pretty severe depression and a “close friend” who treated me like garbage. It’s also when I started chain smoking Djarum Blacks (yes, let’s all laugh at me), so whenever I hear this song, I taste cloves. But damn if this song doesn’t help me get stuff done! I’ve pumped out five-page papers from start to finish in three hours listening to this song!

Arctic Monkeys – “Dance Little Liar”

This is easily in my top 5 favorite Arctic Monkeys songs. It just has a great rhythm that helps stimulate my brain for thinking and productivity. It starts nice and quiet and then it builds towards the end. If you haven’t heard Arctic Monkeys, by the way, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I saw them live and it was one of the greatest nights of my life, read here all about it!

Led Zeppelin – “Thank You (BBC Recording)”

If you’ve heard the original version of this song, do yourself a massive favor and find the BBC recording of this song. It’s much heavier and Jimmy Page freaking shreds his electric guitar instead of his acoustic. This song invokes so much motivation and productivity in me and I just get stuff done, honestly.

I would include others, but most of my other favorite songs are too encompassing and require me to stop what I’m doing to enjoy what I’m doing. Not exactly what you’re going for when you’re trying to pump out five blog posts in three hours! But anyway, these are my favorite easy-listening songs for when I need that kick in the ass to get sh*t done!

What songs do you listen to? Help me update my playlist, it’s almost two years old!

Edit: I promise, my next post will reveal what I’ve been building up to! Stay tuned!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
