February 2018 Ipsy Unbagging Review
*channeling my inner Jeffree Star* What’s up everybody? Welcome *aggressively point* BACK to my Ipsy Unbagging! *waves in circle with twinkling in background* Hi, how are ya??
Sorry, I’ve been on a major JS kick lately!
Alright, so now that I have that out of the way, for real, how is everyone doing? I have been so exhausted lately trying to keep up with life! Travis’s family had an emergency with his dad passing away last weekend, so last week’s blog posts were put on hold while I helped them make arrangements and such. Now that I am back, I figured I would resurrect a series that I accidentally let die: my Ipsy Unbagging series!
If you don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a $10 monthly subscription service where you get 5 beauty samples in a cute little bag. The samples are based on a survey you complete when you sign up. Sometimes the bags are complete hits, and sometimes the bags are flops. This month’s bag wasn’t too bad, actually. The great thing about Ipsy is that there are ways to earn points so you can get free product! If you use my link to sign up, you get 250 points right off the bat! Every review you leave is an additional 15 points.
Disclaimer: some links in this post are affiliate links. I make a small commission if you use my link to make a purchase (doesn’t have to be what I link to). This is no way affects your cost or my honesty! These links cut down the cost of running this blog, so any support helps! Thanks so much!
Alright, on to the reviews!
I’ll rank them from 1-5, starting with the worst item in the bag:
I’m not sure what’s going on with Ipsy. I’m pretty sure I told them in my survey and in past negative reviews that I have DRY SKIN. I don’t know why they keep sending matte/powder products. Either way, I’m still pretty happy to get a MAC product, even if it’s something that may not work for me. MAC’s hella expensive.
Item #2: F.A.R.A.H Powder Brush
I’m always pretty stoked to add to my brush collection, but what can I say? It’s a brush. It doesn’t blow me away but it also doesn’t wow me.
Item #3: Meech and Mia Eyeshadow in “Taupe”
I gotta say, I’m a little worn out with all the palettes that have been released in the last few years. I like having singular eye shadows every now and then, especially for work. This color goes really well with blue eyes (color theory and all that good stuff).
Item #4: GlamGlow GlowStarter Primer
I love getting cream illuminating primers! It’s really hard to make dry skin look glow-y without making it look oil-y! But I have enjoyed using this primer a few times! It gives a nice healthy glow without being sticky or gross!
Y’all know me, I love eyeliner pens. They’re user-friendly and have lots of room for error and improvement! And I’ve gotten products from Doucce before, so I knew to expect good quality! The pen has a felt tip that’s sturdy but moves with your hand. It does take an extra coat to make the black pop. But I think that’s because it’s new. Doucce such a nice company. I hope to work with them sometime in the future!
Alright you guys, that’s it for this month! Let me know in the comments if you’re a Ipsy subscriber and if you got any similar items! I feel bad for letting this series take a hiatus, but honestly, the last few bags have been flops. Not worth going through the energy of making a whole post to shit on products, right? But I’ll make much more of an effort in the future! I hope everyone has a good week!
